The Designer this Week- 19th October 2022
This week let’s take a look at the MS7 Apartment by Febrero Studio, Design Show 2022 and Christopher Boots
OUR ROUNDUP THIS WEEK:
One of the best parts of being a designer is being able to regularly be able to check out everything that is happening in the design world ‘because it’s work’.
I’ve decided to share a roundup of my most inspirational projects, tips, events and resources for your enjoyment and I’ll summarise all I’ve been working on the blog and YouTube. I hope you enjoy it!
So first up
Febrero Studios- MS7 project, Madrid
DESIGN INSPO
If you follow me on Instagram, you might know that I spent two months in Europe this summer.
I absolutely fell in love with the city and in the near future, I want to buy a place there. Since I don’t speak Spanish, I think managing an interior design project could be a bit of a challenge, so I have been looking around for interior designers that I could work with.
I’d like to buy something in a period building and I love the mix of old and new architecture in this project by Febrero Studio. The interior design is quite spare, but I think I could work with that. They use a lot of timber- and I like a bit of metal in my designs-mere details!
Tomorrow I’m heading off to the Design Show, in Sydney. I haven’t been to a show for around 2 years (or is it 3) so I’m pretty excited. I’m looking for interior design products for my latest project, which I haven’t shared yet, but I will! I’m interested in tiles and fabrics.
I’m going to take some videos and I hope that I will be able to make a video of the event so you can get a little peek at what it’s like. My expectations are not as high as Maison et Objet (I miss you!) but I am keeping my mind open to possibilities.
I’m meeting one of my interior design clients who I have only met online so am excited about that as well! I hope to see some of you there!
DESIGN BRAND- CHRISTOPHER BOOTS
Anyone who visited my design store, Eclectic Cool in Hong Kong, would have noticed that I love lighting. Like, a lot. Near my office in Surry Hills, Est Lighting stocks the amazing Christopher Boots. I love this brand. It mixes my love of jewellery and lighting together, wrapping them up in a neat little bow.
I’m obsessed with one of their designs, the Abacus. I think it reminds me of China, and then it reminds me of Hong Kong. The designs are glamorous (another reminder) and precious. I love how they seem to get their inspiration from jewellery. I love the movement and the colours as well as the quality of the metal work. They are definitely worth a look, especially if you are looking for something unusual.
