A simple site for an interior designer that I designed
In my career as an interior designer, I have had 4 websites. The first website was custom designed for me in 2012 for my design business, Eclectic Cool. It cost around USD5000 and was on Wordpress. I liked it but by 2014, I was bored of it and I needed to add an online store. I added Shopify to it and that cost me an additional USD3000. It was one of my biggest expenses. The problem was it was kind of like a pair of new shoes. I love them but I still want MORE.
When it came to designing the StudioLuxicon and Design Ink website, I looked around at designers and received quotes from USD10000 to USD18000. I just couldn’t justify it. As I had used Wordpress before, I did a lot of research and read a lot of blogs comparing them both, and of course tried both of them out to see which I preferred, and which would be best for my business. I signed up for free trials of both and tested them out. Squarespace was the hands-down winner.
As designers, we are always faced with shiny new things. We love the design and feel confident dealing with colour and shape. It’s easy to be intimidated by learning new technology but don’t worry, if you use Squarespace as a web platform for your design biz, you’ll pretty much be able to make a website that stands out and it will probably only cost you around USD500 at the most!
So here are the 5 reasons why you should choose Squarespace as the website platform for your interior design biz.
It is so easy to use. It has a great interface, as a designer, you will enjoy the look and feel. and once you get the hang of it, you’ll be using it like a pro
It has a high level of security and updates itself. You don’t need to worry about anyone hacking into your site and you will never have to do a manual update for any reason, let alone for security.
It is well priced. The plans start from USD13 per month but definitely start with a Business Plan for USD23 per month.
It was originally designed for photographers and is able to handle and present images beautifully.
You can customise it a lot. There are a number of plugins on the market that allow you to customize it with minimal code. You will not have to learn complex HTML or CSS.
