Why you need to include a CTA on your interior design website

THE ONE THING THAT YOU NEED TO HAVE ON EVERY PAGE OF YOUR INTERIOR DESIGN WEBSITE

It is …drumroll please…a Call to Action or CTA.

why you need to include a CTA on your interior design website

  • A CTA is essential for every page of your website. Place them where ever you want the viewer to take action.

TL/DR

WHAT IS A CTA?

Any good copywriter knows that at the end of the copy you want to get your audience to do something. This is called a Call to Action. Simply, once you have got a potential client onto your site or onto your social, you need to get them to take action.

For a designer, this action is usually one of three things:

Find out More

Fill out a form

Book an Inquiry Call (or book a consultation)

If you have some sort of freebie to get your community on your email list you could get them to download it.

An example of a call to action is Download now

WHY DO YOU NEED A CTA ON EVERY PAGE OF YOUR WEBSITE?

The goal is to make it easy for your prospective client to take the next step. Remember, you are not selling a product, you are providing a solution to a problem that they are experiencing. Don’t leave your audience not knowing what to do next. You don’t want them to leave the page and then forget about you.

On an interior designers website, the goal is to get them to book an inquiry call with you. You can make this call to action as simple or as complex as you wish.

For example, you could have a button that goes to your contact page which lists an email address or a phone number. Another way to do it is to use an appointment scheduler like Acuity ( linked to Squarespace) or Calendly. I have heard that some designers think that these kind of buttons cheapen the site, but if you have designed your website to attract your ideal client, then there is no reason why this should be so. You are just making it easy for them to make an appointment with you.

If they are not quite ready to talk to you , at the very least you want those prospectives to look at your services or to look at your portfolio of work. This is community you are building and design projects have a long time frame. It’s important to cultivate these prospects so when they are ready to make a move, they remember how easy it was to take the next step.

WHERE SHOULD I PUT MY CTA?

We know that we need to have CTAs on each page, but how many and where?

Think about 2 things: the ultimate goal of the website ( to get someone to engage with you) and the goal of each page.

What would you like someone to do when they come to this page?

Then add CTAs accordingly. I don’t think that there is a hard and fast rule here, but most sections of your page should have some sort of CTA. It could be for them to read more , or you might want them to take more direct action. Also, a CTA can be a link to a page, rather than a big red button. You could also have a form for them to sign up to your email list where they can download a helpful guide. .

WHERE SHOULD I PUT MY CTA’S?

You can add CTAs to your site in the following ways:

  • Buttons

  • Email sign up box

  • A link to a scheduler

  • You can install a Related Posts plugin on your website

  • An image with a link

  • Text link

  • A banner

A FEW TIPS FOR CONVERTING CTAS

Make sure that the CTA stands out

  • Make sure that there is a CTA on every page ‘above the fold’ ie the part that you see when you open the page. Don’t just hide it down the bottom and make your prospectives scroll.

  • When you have finished designing your website, get someone to go through it and get them to check if they know what to do on each page. As I said before, you can add more than one CTA per page.
