This week let’s take a look at the Brunswick House by Olaver Architects, Maison et Objet and Aline Asmar D’Amman

OUR ROUNDUP THIS WEEK:

One of the best parts of being a designer is being able to regularly be able to check out everything that is happening in the design world ‘because it’s work’.

I’ve decided to share a roundup of my most inspirational projects, tips, events and resources for your enjoyment and I’ll summarise all I’ve been working on the blog and YouTube. I hope you enjoy it!

So first up

Morso Fireplaces

DESIGN INSPO

Brunswick House by Olaver Architecture

I’m currently doing a project which is a new-build brick house. I’m loving the simplicity of this cottage- a brick extension on the original weatherboard house. The red brick is quite unusually sexy. The project I am doing is using recycled brick. The light that streams into the kitchen is so beautiful. I could totally imagine lying down on that suspended bench and soaking up some rays.

The kitchen joinery is also placed on a brick bed, which is unusual and interesting. I’ve never seen that before except in very old period homes. It mirrors the hearth on the opposite wall. The only thing that I am not loving is the fireplace. Seems a bit small to me - possibly a bit bigger and the model of the fireplace not so interesting. Give me a Morso any day.

DCW Editions Paris

DESIGN EVENT

When I was running Eclectic Cool, I loved heading to Paris in January and going to Maison et Objet. I didn’t ever make it to the September edition.

I loved checking out the brands that I carried in the store and I used to contact other suppliers, particularly decorative items. Check out the Maison site here. It’s a wealth of inspiration, especially for accessories. Here’s some fab lighting from DCW Editions - a go-to for me for lighting

DESIGN BRAND

A designer that I’m loving is Aline Asmar D’Amman. Growing up in Beirut in the 70s her work has an almost retro feel. She established Culture in Architecture, which is a multi-disciplinary design practice that works on projects such as Hotel de Crillon. She worked with Karl Lagerfeld on interior projects. You can see more of her furniture pieces at Invisible Collection.

I’m loving the moody Gent’s Chair, particularly the rear view with a brushed metal finish. The Georgia chair is based on Georgia O’Keeffe’s lush and slightly pornagraphic abstract paintings. Just the thing you need for an elegant boudoir.
